A Nichols man faces multiple charges after a Washington County arrest early Thursday morning.

Court documents show that at about 1:10 a.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was advised of a vehicle in the ditch near the 59 mile marker of southbound Highway 218. After locating the vehicle approximately 30 yards off the roadway sitting on top of a culvert the deputy was advised that the suspect, 26-year-old Ulices Montiel Munoz was picked up by a semi and was then located at the Pilot truck stop in Mount Pleasant. Munoz admitted to a Henry County Sheriff’s deputy that he was the only occupant of the vehicle and had used cocaine as recently as Wednesday. When the Washington County deputy arrived at the truck stop Munoz was observed to be very fidgety and rambling. He refused to do a field sobriety test but consented to a preliminary breath test that indicated he was at a zero percent blood alcohol content level. Munoz was confirmed to have two prior operating while under the influence convictions and a revoked driver’s license, so a search warrant was requested for blood as Munoz was believed to be under the influence of a narcotic.

Upon transport to the emergency room to get a blood sample Munoz kicked the deputy twice. When they returned to the jail Munoz did not comply with instructions. Munoz faces charges of operating a vehicle with a revoked license and assault on persons in certain occupations, both serious misdemeanors, interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor, and failure to maintain control. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
