The Wellman Chamber of Commerce is calling residents to decorate their set of four wheels for a new community event Sunday.

The chamber and the City of Wellman are sponsoring a “trunk or treat” event coinciding with the city wide trick or treat night. Residents are invited to reserve a space to park their vehicles along Main Street from 6-8 p.m. and decorate their trunks with their best Halloween decorations. Families will have the opportunity to visit different trunks and get some candy along the way. Wellman Chamber of Commerce President Heather Trimpe says  they wanted to host an event to give residents another opportunity to get involved in the community, “Normally we have a harvest party at our skating rink here in town. And we just wanted to try something new this year to get the community more involved and get more things downtown for our local businesses down there. It’s something different this year.”

A costume and best decorated trunk contest will be held with the winners announced at 7 p.m.  Free hot dogs, chips and water will be served throughout the event. Main Street will be closed off to traffic from city hall to 8th Street to give residents a safe walking area.
