Four people are running for two Washington Community School Board seats and nine are vying for three Mid-Prairie seats in today’s city and school election.
There are contested races in the cities of Crawfordsville, Kalona, Riverside, and Wellman, while only two candidates filed for five seats up for election in the City of West Chester. There are no contested races for the City of Washington and the Highland School Board. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. throughout Washington County, and mailed absentee ballots will be accepted at the auditor’s office at the courthouse until polls close. Prior to election law changes made by the state legislature this year, absentee ballots that were postmarked by election day were counted until noon on the Monday following the election. KCII will broadcast the unofficial results after the polls close tonight. To find your polling location, visit here.
