Residents in southeast Iowa have one last chance to enjoy the fall colors.
The final fall color report released by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources states that the landscape is changing quickly but the colors are still showing. Urban maple trees are showing a lot of different colors. The fall color season is almost finished in far northeast Iowa. The DNR says that there is still some great fall color in the hills adjacent to the Mississippi River. As Iowans travel inland from the river, most of the color is coming from scattered groups of oak trees with shades of brown, orange, red, yellow and bronze. Peak season in southeast Iowa is now but fading.
