A juvenile has been arrested following threats made this week to Fairfield High School.

The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office says a 15-year-old youth has been arrested and charged in juvenile court with threat of terrorism, a class D felony. On Monday, the Fairfield Police Department received multiple calls from the public reporting a Snapchat message that was being shared warning of a shooting at the high school the next day. Officers immediately followed up on these calls and quickly determined that the post did not pose any threat to the community. Classes proceeded on a regular schedule. The Snapchat account was found not to belong to the person named and had been created by someone else. Law enforcement found the source of the fake account and they admitted to making the post.

The Fairfield Police Department thanks the public for their quick intervention and they encourage people to continue to contact law enforcement when they have concerns. Questions regarding the law enforcement response should be addressed to the police, and questions on the juvenile court process should be addressed to the attorney’s office.

This arrest comes about two weeks after two Fairfield teenagers were arrested and charged as adults in the murder of high school teacher Nohema Graber. Jeremy Everett Goodale and Willard Noble Chaiden Miller are charged with first-degree murder, a class A felony, and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, a class C felony. Pretrial release evaluation was ordered for them both Wednesday.
