The postseason awards keep piling in for high school volleyball players and on Wednesday the Iowa Girls Coaches Association released the 2021 All-District teams with four area individuals being recognized for class 1A.
A pair of Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO players were named to the Southeast All-District team for class 1A. WMU’s Bradie Buffington and Keetyn Townsley were named and the junior duo helped the Wolves to a 22-11 season with a second place finish in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division. Buffington recorded the fourth most kills in the league with 192 and she also led the team with 46 blocks. No one had more digs in the division than Townsley’s 458 and the junior was dynamite serving with a 94% success rate and 53 aces. Juniors Grace Coble and Ellah Kissell were recognized for a WACO team that finished 21-13. Coble eclipsed 1,000 career assists in the middle of the season and this fall she compiled 546, fourth in the SEISC-South. She was also automatic serving with 396 successful attempts and a 96% efficiency with 60 aces. Kissell led the Warriors with 244 kills and managed 281 digs.
Six districts are in the state with a total of 19 players making up the Southeast Iowa team.
