A Brighton woman was recently sentenced to prison for felony drug charges.
Court records show that 49-year-old Rhonda Ann Hamer pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class C felony, and was sentenced to 10 years incarceration with a $1,370 fine and a 15% surcharge. Per the plea agreement, a second class C felony charge was dismissed. Hamer requested a hearing to determine reasonable ability to pay category B restitution. She must also pay any court costs and restitution on the dismissed count. Hamer was arrested last August after probation officers conducted a search warrant at her residence, where they located and seized meth, prescription pills, and other paraphernalia consistent with the delivery of controlled substances. Hamer is on supervised release in the Northern District of Iowa for a 2008 federal drug conviction.
