Residents in the Brighton community now have a new annual Christmas event thanks to the work of the Brighton Chamber of Commerce.

Starting tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. the inaugural Christmas Tree Lighting will take place in Central Park. The tree was donated by  Morning Star Farm. Residents are encouraged to come watch the lighting with the Brighton Chamber and Mayor Melvin Rich. Chamber President David McArtor explains how they received the tree donation and why they decided to host this event, “Well we wanted to do something different. We started calling around to local businesses and they were willing to donate it because we wanted to do something different for Brighton. We’re a whole new style of chamber and we just want to let our little town grow a little bit.”

Residents can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies with Santa following the tree lighting at the first Church of God gymnasium. McArtor added that he hopes to see anyone and everyone come to the event and enjoy time in the community. For more information, contact Kristi McArtor at 641-451-1389.
