The 1A list of all state football members is full of Cobras with eight Sigourney-Keota players being recognized in 2021 by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and the Iowa Football Coaches Association.
Eight players being named all state is the second most by any team in class 1A, only behind state champion Van Meter with 10. Three seniors headlined the selections being named first team with Cade Molyneux as a running back, Zach Smithart as an offensive lineman, and Colten Clarahan as a kicker. No back in 1A had more rushing yards than Molyneux with 1,990 and his 2,014 all purpose yards also ranked first. The senior found the endzone 26 times and managed 36.5 tackles defensively. Molyneux was running behind Smithart, the anchor of an offensive line that paved the way for the second most rushing yards in the state with 3,402. On the other side, the 5’10’’ 272 pound Smithart collected 12.5 tackles. Clarahan was money with his leg making the most field goals in the state with six including the longest regardless of class with a 52 yarder. The spinner back threw for 452 yards and five touchdowns while adding 710 on the ground and four more scores. The senior paced the defense with 43 tackles.
Second team selections included offensive lineman Aidan Schuster, defensive lineman Cade Streigle, and returner Levi Crawford. Schuster was a key cog in the o-line and defensively produced 15.5 tackles including five for a loss. Streigle missed some time due to injury and still managed 25 tackles, five for a loss, and had a 39 yard average on seven punts. Crawford averaged 6.8 yards per punt return and had one house call. The senior finished with 631 yards of total offense and eight touchdowns. The two third team selections included Conner Reed and Jack Clarahan. Reed started on the offensive line and compiled 10.5 tackles for the defense. The junior Clarahan recorded 33.5 tackles from his linebacker position.
