The Highland School Board welcomed a new member during a special meeting on November 16th.

Following the November 2nd city and school board elections, Monica Jepsen joined the board along with incumbents Rachel Longbine and Megan Allen. Jepsen is serving in a seat previously held by Kevin Engle, who served as a member of the board for 19 years. Superintendent Ken Crawford expresses his gratitude for Engle and his years of service, “I know four years ago, he did not want to run again and he felt like he had put in his time. But nobody else ran in that district and he was the write-in candidate that won. And he accepted for four more years. So I think that says a lot about Kevin and the people and what they think of him. We’d like to thank Kevin for his years of service. That was great to see him retire from the board and say he put in his time and hand it over as well as it’s exciting to welcome Monica Jepsen on to our board.”

Shortly after Jepsen took her seat, the board then elected and voted for a president and vice president. Nate Robinson returned to his seat as the board president with Mike Golden serving as the vice president.
