Washington County Conservation is helping families decorate their Christmas tree with their annual Christmas ornament decoration event.

The event will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday December 11th at the conservation center at Marr Park. This family-friendly event will give residents opportunities to make their own Christmas ornaments and wreaths from resources found in nature. Washington County Conservation Naturalist Megan Jorgensen explains why they continue to host an ornament decoration event, “For a while now our goal has been to come up with more ways to get people out to our park in Marr Park. So we wanted that to be something that we continued not just in the summer months or during the camping season. So one thing we thought of that could potentially bring people to the center would be an ornament decorating event. Finding something that kind of stuck with the season or fit with the season, so to speak, in a way that we could incorporate nature into it.”

Jorgensen added that all supplies for the event will be provided and families are asked to register in advance. There will be half hour time slots available with five families per slot. For more information and registration, call 319-657-2400.
