The Washington community’s holiday cheer helped light up the downtown square Saturday during a day filled with events as part of the town’s holiday blitz.
Several events returned for the first time since 2019, such as Breakfast with Santa, the Jingle Bell Run fundraiser for PAWS & More Animal Shelter and downtown holiday lighting, the lighting ceremony and remembrance of those honored by the Lights of Love memorial trees, and the lighted holiday parade. KCII broadcasted live with the Big Red Radio from the Jingle Bell Run and evening events Saturday. Not only are the downtown buildings and Central Park aglow this holiday season, but the public can pick up a Washington Wonderland map to find the participating homes and businesses for the decorating contest. The chamber’s 30th annual Candlelight Tour of Homes is also taking place this December 4th and 5th, which helps raise funds for downtown lighting, for which they’ve invested $35,000 since 2018.
