An Ottumwa woman was sent to the hospital following a vehicle crash in Ainsworth Monday.

The Washington County Communications Center received reports at approximately 2:33 a.m. of an incident at the intersection of Old White Way and Highway 218. Thirty-eight year-old Mildred Anice Bridges was traveling westbound on Old White Way in a 2007 Chrysler Sebring when she failed to yield upon entering Highway 218. Bridges’ vehicle was then struck on the drivers’ side front and rear doors by a semi truck driven by 55-year-old Pedro Lerma of Cameron, Texas. Bridges was transported  by Washington County Ambulance Service to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of injuries. The Sebring was towed from the scene. Citations are pending for failure to yield and failure to provide proof of insurance. Ainsworth Fire and QRS, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Washington County Rescue assisted at the scene.
