While Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday are occasions to spend some dollars for yourself or loved ones this holiday season, Giving Tuesday can be a chance to treat those in your community in need of support.

The Washington for Justice organization is collecting monetary donations for their second annual December holiday meal kit program. On Saturday, December 11th, the group will be offering traditional and Latinx cuisine meal kits that families can bring home to prepare and enjoy. Last year the group received over $3,000 which supplied 63 meal kits. Bethany Glinsmann with Washington for Justice says any show of support is appreciated, “The meal kits this year are $45 per kit and that will feed a family of four adults. The price has gone up since last year, but that’s to reflect increasing grocery costs. So any family who feels like they have some money they can spare to help other families in our community who have been less fortunate, we just really appreciate any donations. Even if it’s $10, don’t feel like you have to give the full 45.”

This year families do not have to sign up in advance to receive a kit, and residents can pick up a kit for others they know are in need as well. Kits will be distributed beginning at 11 a.m. at the Mills Seed Building, and anyone from Washington County is welcome. Those who would like to volunteer can contact Washington for Justice here.
