A road trip to Belle Plaine to start the season was on the docket for the Lone Tree boys’ basketball team on Monday and a rough second half led to a 55-32 loss for the Lions.
Lone Tree got the start they were looking for by leading 10-8 after one and trailing just 21-20 at the break. A 16-5 Plainsmen third quarter allowed for some separation and an 18-7 fourth shut the door on the non-conference bout. Belle Plaine was plus 10 in the rebounding department and managed 11 blocks. Adam Knock led Lone Tree off the bench with eight points, Cade Patterson had seven, while Drew Gaulley and Mitchell Koedam brought in five rebounds.
The Lions start the year 0-1 and get back at it tonight at Keota (1-1).
