The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls basketball teams were swept in a doubleheader on Bud McLearn Court Tuesday in Mediapolis. The Raven boys fell to Mediapolis 50-35. Things were tight through the first three quarters with MEPO holding leads of 14-11 after one quarter, 22-20 at half, and 36-31 going to the final frame. In the fourth, the Bulldogs pulled away with a 14-4 sprint to the finish that lasted the entire quarter. With the loss, the Ravens fall to 0-1 on the young season.
The Hillcrest girls were beaten by the Bullettes 71-14. MEPO roared out of the gate with a 31-2 run that spanned the entire first period and led 49-9 at the end of the first half. The Bullettes outscored the Ravens after the break 22-5. With the loss, Hillcrest is now 0-3. The Raven boys and girls will be back on the floor Friday night in a home doubleheader when they welcome the Wapello Indians and Arrows to Dwight Gingerich Court at Hillcrest Union.
