An area non-conference bout took place in Keota on Thursday with the Eagle boys’ basketball team entertaining Lone Tree and the purple and gold came away with a 52-40 victory.
The contest was close throughout with the Lions having a slight 14-12 lead after one and the game tied at 18-18 after 16 minutes. After taking a three point lead in the third, the fourth quarter was the difference for the Eagles with a 24-15 advantage that salted the game away. Evan Vittetoe shot eight of 13 from the floor to finish with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Sawyer Stout added 15 points and Colten Clarahan brought in 10 boards.
Keota improves to 2-1 and they close the first week tonight at Sigourney. Lone Tree is 0-2 and they seek their first win Monday against Highland.
