The Mid-Prairie Archery program has a new season in the cross hairs today when they travel to Eddyville-Blakesburg for the Rocket Bullseye Tournament and 3D shoot. Mid-Prairie is coming off of a season that saw nine student athletes qualify for state throughout all ranks of the program including high school block target competitors Zane Fisher, Zoe Fisher, Kaylee Shirkey, Camden Miller and Koby Karnes, middle schoolers Elijah Statler, Morgan Nafziger and Landon Kuenster, with Statler qualifying in both block and 3D target action and Cecil Kelley at the elementary level.
Once at state, Zane Fisher led the way with a 284, finishing 28th of 323 high school boys, Zoe Fisher shot a 262 taking 186th of 316 high school girls. Elijah Statler fired a 273 in bullseye competition for 32nd of 383 competitors. He also shot a 273 in the 3D contest. Morgyn Nafziger led the middle school girls with a score of 250, 131st of 275 middle school girls. Cecil Kelley shot a 224 in the elementary contest.
Joining the Golden Hawks today in Eddyville are Cardinal Elementary, Junior High and High School, Clarke of Osceola Elementary, Middle School and High School, Eisenhower and Evans Middle Schools in Ottumwa, Horace Mann, James, Wilson and Liberty Elementary Schools in Ottumwa, Seton Catholic School in Ottumwa, Ottumwa High School, Washington Middle, High School and Lincoln Elementary Schools and North Mahaska Junior and Senior High Schools. Action continues all day today at Eddyville-Blakesburg High School.
