The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk Archery teams got the season started Saturday at Eddyville-Blakesburg. The Mid-Prairie High School team was fourth of five teams in the bullseye shoot with their score of 2958. Washington won the contest with a 3219 team score. Mid-Prairie was paced by Camden Miller with a 273 day including 13 10’s. That score ranked Miller fourth of 64 boys competing. Top girl archer for the Hawks was Paytin Swartzentruber with a 269 including seven 10s. She finished 12th of 51 competing high school girls. Other scores for the Hawks included Paityn Jennings 264, Parker Jennings 263, Koby Karnes 257, Zane Fisher 256, Milo Sieren 246, Caiden Sellers 237, Christopher Burnham 228, Payton Peck 225, Peyton Freeman 222, Kyla Karnes 218 and Blake Peck 210.
At the 3D tournament, the Golden Hawks were sixth of six teams with a score of 1443. Cardinal was the team winner at 1584. Zane Fisher led the Hawks in the 3D shoot with a runner-up finish at 271 including 13 10s. Paytin Swartzentruber led the Golden Hawk girls with a 266, including five 10s, fifth in the girls standings. Other Mid-Prairie scores included Koby Karnes 245, Milo Sieren 238, Payton Peck 226, and Kyla Karnes 196.
The Golden Hawk Middle School team was fourth in the bullseye shoot with a 2759 team score. Elijah Statler won the competition with his 278, including 13 10s. Lael Seale was the top Mid-Prairie girls score with a 244, including 7 10s, taking 16th place. In the Middle School 3D shoot, Mid-Prairie fired a 1389, finishing fifth. Statler won his second individual title of the day with a 279 including 12 10s. Seale was the top girls finisher for the Hawks here also with a 244 including six 10s.
