A local fundraiser returns for its second year offering residents some tasty holiday treats for those maybe not culinary inclined.

Hospice of Washington County’s Sweet ‘n Salty Online Auction lasts Monday through Friday. Hospice Executive Director Katrina Altenhofen shares the event began last year as a way to help supplement funding for their new building project, and since it was a big success they’re bringing it back to help support their ongoing operations, “We never ever bill a patient for any of our hospice-related services. So we utilize fundraisers to help offset those costs, and as most people know that even though we receive Medicare or private insurance to help cover nursing visits it’s never at a 100%. It’s only a percentage and a per diem per day. So any of our fundraisers that we do or memorials that we collect help us to assure that we can sustain keeping our agency doors open and keeping our business here. So we can provide that end of life care within the seven-county region.”

Over 108 items have been donated for the auction including cookies, bars, pies, divinity, party mix, and more. Winning bidders can pick up their treats at the hospice office beginning on December 14th. For a link to the auction details, visit here.
