Three KCII area boys basketball teams appear in the first Associated Press High School Basketball Poll of the season, released Monday. All of the teams are in class 1A.

The Keota Eagles are ranked No. 9. Keota is out to a 3-2 start to the season with wins over Lone Tree, Louisa-Muscatine and rival Sigourney. Their two losses are to Belle Plaine and Iowa Valley by a combined six points.

Winfield-Mt. Union is the ninth team receiving votes with five in this week’s poll. The Wolves are on a roll to start the season with victories over Lone Tree, Van Buren, Highland and Pekin by an average of 22 points.

WACO is also receiving a pair votes in the poll. The Warriors are 2-1 this season with blowout wins over Holy Trinity Catholic and Columbus on the road while falling in Wayland to New London in a three point contest.
