The Hillcrest Academy boys and girls basketball teams earned a split in a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader Tuesday night in Letts. The Raven boys ran away with a 62-35 win. The Falcons actually led in an early defensive struggle 8-5 after the first but Hillcrest would outscore L-M every quarter the rest of the way including a 17-4 run that spanned the entire second frame to open a 22-12 lead going to the break. Out of the half, Hillcrest broke the Falcons with a 40-23 scoring margin to add to their lead and put the game away. A trio of Hillcrest players reached double figures led by Luke Schrock’s 18 points, Noah Miller had 11 and Grant Bender 10. Hillcrest is now 2-1 on the year as L-M remains winless.

The girls contest saw Louisa-Muscatine contintue their unbeaten start to the season with a 60-31 victory. The Falcons sprinted early, leading 21-6 after one quarter and 35-13 at half. They put the game on ice with a 15-5 run the spanned the entire third quarter. Kaylee Corbin keyed the Falcons with 32 points including 15 made field goals. McKenzie Kissell had 10. Hillcrest Academy falls to 0-5, L-M is 4-0. Hillcrest Academy is next in action Thursday when they host Columbus in a Superconference doubleheader in Kalona.
