It was a rough road trip Thursday night for the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk wrestling team as they came up short in a pair of River Valley Conference duals in Monticello. Mid-Prairie lost to rival Iowa City Regina 63-27. The Hawks got wins in contested matches from Mose Yoder at 113lbs by fall, Landry Gingerich at 132lbs by 5-2 decision, and Madison Kelly by fall at 145lbs.

Against the home team, the Hawks came tantalizingly close to victory, dropping the dual to Monticello 40-39 on tiebreaker criteria. Mid-Prairie got wins in contested matches against the Panthers from Collin O’Rourke at 126lbs by tech fall, Kaden Meader at 170lbs by fall, Quinn Callahan at 195lbs by major decision and Terry Bordenave at 220lbs by fall. Mid-Prairie is now 3-5 on the dual season and return home Saturday to host the annual Colton Allen Invitational.
