Lake Darling State Park is looking for residents in southeast Iowa to join their team for the upcoming recreational season.

To help ensure the best experience for everyone who visits the park, Lake Darling is looking for volunteer campground hosts to work from April through Labor Day weekend in September. Hosts will be given their own site to live at for free during this time. Park Manager Nick Young says that duties include light maintenance work, assisting and welcoming campers and cleaning cabins. Young encourages anyone who is interested to apply, especially those who enjoy getting outside, “Anyone who is big into camping. Anyone who likes to enjoy the outdoors. There’s a whole park at your fingertips, right in front of you. We welcome anyone who is interested in that. One of the qualifications is that you would have to pass a state background check but besides that we’re pretty much open to anybody.”

Volunteers would work 20 to 40 hours per week including weekends and holidays. Young said that there would not be a set schedule for volunteers, as work would depend on campers coming to and leaving the campgrounds. For contact information, visit here
