It is another Friday night of Southeast Conference action for the Washington basketball teams when they face off with Burlington.
The Demon boys will make the trip to see the Grayhounds and they are riding high after an 82-69 victory over the defending state champs and No. 2 Pella on Tuesday. Washington sits at 3-0 and 1-0 in the SEC with Ethan Patterson leading the charge at 22.7 points per game. They will try to keep the momentum moving forward against a Burlington team that is 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. They fell to Iowa City West 61-49 on Tuesday. Merquiche Lewis Jr. and Amarion Davis lead them with 15 and 12 points per night, respectively. These two squads split a pair of meetings last winter with both games decided by 10 points or less.
The girls game in Washington will feature two teams desperate for their first win. The Demons dropped to 0-4 with a 66-18 loss to Pella. Kaylin Long paces the team with seven points an outing and Alex Murphy adds six. Burlington is 0-2 with their last loss coming to Keokuk 60-17 last week. Washington looks for history to repeat itself against the Grayhounds with both one point games last year going in the orange and black’s favor.
Both games are set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and listen to the girls’ contest on FM 106.1 KCII.
