The WACO Warrior Wrestling team traveled north to Tri-County High School Saturday for tournament action and came home with a third place team finish. WACO scored 147.5 points on the day, finishing just behind team champion Pleasantville with 172. The Warriors crowned two champions Saturday with Gage Samo going 2-0 in contested matches at 106lbs including an 8-5 decision over Joel DeJong of North Mahaska in the title match. Louden Huisenga won gold at 145lbs after a 3-0 day that included a 10-4 championship match win over Michael DeJong of North Mahaska. John McLaughlin at 113lbs, Kris Boone at 170lbs and Cainan Lovan at 182lbs were all runners-up.

Three WACO girls were on the mat Friday at Colfax-Mingo for a tournament. Heaven Steege had the highest finish for the Warriors, taking runner up at 126lbs, including a win over Peyton Sams of Southeast Polk by 10-6 decision. Grace Fort at 160lbs and Bralyyn Wagler at 220lbs both finished in third place.
