It was a tough weekend at the Colfax-Mingo dual tournament Saturday for the Columbus-Winfield-Mt. Union wrestling team, posting a 1-4 overall record. The Wildcats win came over the host Tigerhawks 42-36. The ‘Cats got wins in contested matches in the dual from Lane Scorpil at 120lbs by fall, Dante Zuniga at 152lbs by 7-1 decision, and Lane Genkinger at 160lbs by 11-6 decision.

Hudson beat the Wildcats 54-27 with the Columbus wins in contested matches coming from Jacob Nelson at 106lbs by fall, Ty Scorpil at 113lbs by fall, Lane Scorpil at 120lbs by fall, Kai Malone at 220lbs by 4-3 decision and Russel Coil at 285lbs by fall.

Columbus was on the short end of a 43-28 score against Des Moines Hoover. The Wildcats got their wins in contested matches from Ty Scorpil at 113lbs by fall, Lane Scorpil at 120lbs by fall, Kai Malone at 220lbs by fall and Russel Coil at 285lbs by fall.

The Wildcats dropped a dual to conference rival Burlington Notre Dame 57-18. Lane Scorpil got the fall over CJ Davis for the contested match win.

Columbus finished their day with a 54-18 loss to Treynor. Wins in contested matches for the Wildcats included Ty Scorpil by fall at 113lbs, Lane Scorpil at 126lbs by fall and Kai Malone at 220lbs by fall.

After the weekend Columbus has a dual record of 3-5. They battle Wapello, Durant, and West Burlington Notre Dame/Danville Thursday in a quadrangular.
