A Mount Pleasant man was recently given a suspended jail sentence following a Henry County incident.
Through a plea agreement, 37-year-old Matthew Ray Sanderson was found guilty of trespassing causing injury or damage greater than $300, a serious misdemeanor. A one-year jail sentence was suspended for Sanderson to be placed on one year of unsupervised probation and pay a fine of $430. He must also obtain a substance abuse evaluation. The charge stems from an October 4th incident. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a subject screaming and yelling in the 1600 block of Oakland Mills Road. Officers began to search the area when they received a 911 call from a residence in the 1700 block of a male subject breaking into a household and barricading himself in the bathroom. Sanderson was identified as the screaming man and surrendered himself to the officers. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Henry County Jail. Sanderson was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, third-degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor, and simulated public intoxication first offense, a simple misdemeanor. The court dismissed the burglary, criminal mischief, and public intoxication charges.
