It’s another Southeast Conference rivalry showdown tonight for the Washington basketball teams when they gear up for their first meeting against Mount Pleasant.

The Demon boys will host the Panthers and they look to stay unbeaten with a 5-0 mark thus far including 2-0 in the SEC. They held off a pesky Oskaloosa team on Tuesday by a 75-63 final. Ethan Patterson has shot 47% from long range and leads the team with 21.8 points a night. Kasen Bailey and Lucas Kroll also average double figures with 12.4 and 10.6, respectively. Mount Pleasant is 2-3, 1-1 in the league, and fell to Cedar Rapids Washington 72-59 on Monday. Dewon Trent is the player to keep an eye on averaging 15 points and 9.6 rebounds an outing. These two squads split a pair of meetings last winter.

The Washington girls are 1-5, 1-1 in the SEC and lost a heartbreaker to Sigourney 40-38 on Monday. Kaylin Long averages 7.2 points and Alex Murphy brings in seven boards a contest. The Panthers are also looking for their second win with a 1-6 overall mark and 0-2 in the SEC. Benton Community handled them earlier this week by a 67-38 score. Andrea Lopreato averages 16.7 points this winter. Mount Pleasant has won 10 of the last 11 meetings.
