A fire has temporarily forced residents out of their home in Pleasant Plain.

On Thursday, the Washington County Communications Office received reports at approximately 9:53 a.m. of a house fire at 403 West Street. Brighton Fire Chief Bill Farmer says there was significant damage to one of the bedrooms and bathrooms with smoke damage throughout. No damage was estimated to the home’s exterior. Farmer says they believe the fire was caused by an electrical problem in the furnace. The residents were present at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported. The Fairfield Fire Department, Brighton First Responders and Jefferson County Ambulance assisted.
