As Christmas Day occurs this Saturday, residents can expect offices to close early this week throughout Washington County.

Kalona, Riverside and Wellman city halls will be closed December 24th-27th. The Kalona YMCA branch will be staffed from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, with 24-hour access to members 18 years and older for the rest of the weekend. The Wellman YMCA branch will be open from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and closed Saturday. Kalona Public Library will be closed Thursday-Saturday with the Wellman-Scofield Public Library closing at 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Garbage pick up will not be affected for any city.

Mid-Prairie Schools will begin winter break following normal release tomorrow with Highland Schools releasing students for break at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Hillcrest Academy will begin their break following an early dismissal at 1:55 p.m. tomorrow. Mid-Prairie and Highland students will return to school on January 3rd with Hillcrest students returning on the 4th.
