The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams continue to be road warriors before Christmas, with the schedule on Tuesday taking them to Northeast Goose Lake for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the Rebels. This is the third straight road game for the Hawks after trips to North Cedar and Cascade in the last 10 days. The Golden Hawk boys remain unbeaten at 5-0 after a 54-42 win at Cascade behind 21 points from Carter Harmsen and 13 from Alex Bean. On the season the Hawks are scoring 62 points per game and giving up 35 while shooting 48% from the floor, 27% from long range and 60% at the line. They average 33 rebounds, 13 assists, 10 steals and 10 turnovers per game. Individually, they are led by Harmsen’s 18 points and eight rebounds per night. Jack Pennington leads the Hawk guards at five assists and three steals per game.

Northeast Goose Lake is 6-2 this year. Last time out they beat Regina 66-49. Their two losses have come to Camanche and Wilton by a combined four points. They score 53 points per game and give up 45. They shoot 41% from the floor, 33% from distance and 64% at the line. They average 28 rebounds, 13 assists, nine steals and 11 turnovers per game. Individual leaders are Carter Pataska at 17 points and five boards per night. Cade Hughes had three assists and two steals per game. Northeast has won seven of the eight all-time meetings, with the Hawks breaking that string last year in a 53-46 victory.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 3-3 after alternating wins and losses on the season. They fell at No. 12 Cascade Thursday 64-51, Maddie Nonnenmann posted 17 points. On the season, the Hawks are scoring 51 per night and giving up 42, while shooting 40% from the field, 31% from long range and 44% at the line. As a team they have 29 rebounds, 13 assists, 14 steals and 14 turnovers per game. Nonnenmann paces the Hawks at 14 points and six boards per night with Amara Jones supplying four assists and four steals per game.

Northeast is 3-7 this season, losing to Wapello in their last outing 57-52 as Alyssa Fowler scored 14. On the year the Rebels score 41 per game and give up 48 shooting 28% from the floor, 23% from three, and 52% at the line. They post 34 rebounds, eight assists, nine steals and 24 turnovers per game. Fowler leads the team with eight points and two steals per night. Brynnlin Kroymann averages a team best six rebounds two assists and a steal per game. Mid-Prairie has won six of the eight all-time meetings between the two clubs including a 50-34 victory in Wellman last year. Action starts tonight at 6p.m. at Northeast Goose Lake High School.
