It’s the final game of the 2021 portion of the schedule for the Washington basketball teams when they gear up for a pivotal Southeast Conference matchup with Fort Madison.

The boys game in Bloodhound Country will be a battle for first place heading into the holiday break with both squads sitting a perfect 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the SEC. The Demons most recently handled Mount Pleasant 70-41 on Friday while the Bloodhounds dispatched Keokuk 53-27 and South Shelby 85-37 over the weekend. Fort Madison features the reigning conference player of the year in Dayton Davis and he is already averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds a contest. The senior’s long arms caused the Demons fits last year in their three quarter court press with both teams splitting a pair of meetings. Head Coach Collin Stark knows handling their pressure will be the key. “They will come out in that 1-2-2 and we have to have confidence that we can break it. Not only be able to find the openings, but attack it as well. That is the biggest key to win on Tuesday.” Washington is led by Ethan Patterson’s 19.8 points an outing and Kasen Bailey adds 13.2.

The Demon girls sit at 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference after a 61-32 loss to Mount Pleasant on Friday. Kaylin Long still leads them with 6.6 points a night while Alex Murphy adds 6.1. Malarie Ross has been money for the Bloodhounds with 23.5 points an outing while shooting at a 41% clip from long range. Fort Madison is 4-2 and 1-2 in the league.

Listen to the girls’ game on FM 106.1 KCII with tip scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Washington.
