Dorothy Brown.
Nikita Jones.
Felony warrants were served for two women already in custody Monday at the Washington County Jail.
The Washington County Communications Center states that 47-year-old Dorothy Marie Brown of Muscatine was arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance in a correctional institution, a class D felony, and 28-year-old Nikita Renee Jones of Wayland was arrested for one count of the same charge. Criminal complaints show that on December 14th, a Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy was informed that the two suspects had contraband in their jail cells. It was observed that Brown possessed 34.5 Adderall pills, 31.5 Hydrocodone pills, a nicotine vape pod, and eight nicotine pouches. On the following day Brown was read her rights and questioned about the contraband. She said that she had a prescription for the pills, that the nicotine patches were already in the cell, and she didn’t want to say anything about the vape pod.
Video surveillance showed that Jones had been taking puffs from a vape pen and then dropped it on the floor when she was moving her things into Brown’s cell. She later admitted that Brown got her the vape pen. A $10,000 cash-only bond was issued for Brown, and a $5,000 cash-only bond was issued for Jones. She was in custody for violating her probation and Brown was serving a 90-day jail sentence for violating probation. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
