A Washington resident was recently arrested on a Lee County warrant.
The Washington County Communications Center states at 3:03 a.m. December 23rd, the Washington Police Department executed a warrant in the 600 block of South Iowa Avenue for 50-year-old My Hanh Nguyen. She was wanted on pretrial release violation for charges of second-degree burglary, a class C felony, forgery, a class D felony, and possession of burglar’s tools, an aggravated misdemeanor. A $10,000 cash-only bond was issued for Nguyen.
Court documents show on September 4th, a 911 call was placed for a burglary at a residence in the 100 block of Washington Street in Keokuk. While EMT’s were tending to the resident, a neighbor came over and told law enforcement he saw Nguyen in the side door. The suspect had no relationship with the family at the residence, and the victim’s son informed that he saw his father’s wallet had been moved and emptied. Nguyen was then located in a nearby parking lot, and she gave permission for law enforcement to search her backpack. Mail addressed to the injured victim was found and a wallet containing $82 cash. Law enforcement also found a checkbook belonging to a second victim that included a signed check for $300, as well as vehicle registrations, several screwdrivers and tools, and other items indicating Nguyen had perpetrated several other burglaries.
