A driver fell asleep at the wheel causing a single-vehicle wreck early Monday morning.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office states at about 1:12 a.m. 23-year-old Courtney Oxley of Columbus Junction was driving a Chrysler 200 in the 200 block of Highway 92 in Ainsworth when she drifted into the ditch, struck a culvert, and went airborne before coming to a rest in the ditch. Airbags deployed and Oxley was wearing a seatbelt. The person who called in the wreck to the Washington County Communications Center notified them that they gave Oxley a ride to her residence. Sheriff’s deputies responded and Oxley stated she had her own arrangements to seek medical attention but then got into a verbal altercation on the way with the person driving her. Oxley was then transported by a deputy to Washington County Hospital and Clinics. She was cited for no proof of insurance. Moore’s Towing also responded.
