Additional details in the November 3rd death of Fairfield Spanish teacher Nohema Graber have been released.
Jefferson County Attorney Chauncey Moulding recently filed court documents stating that 16-year-olds Jeremy Goodale and Willard Miller surveilled Graber’s pattern of life, ambushed her along her daily walk at Chautauqua Park and dragged her into the woods, returning later to better hide her lifeless body. Goodale and Miller were arrested hours after her body was discovered and were charged as adults with first-degree murder, a class A felony, and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, a class C felony. Attorneys for both teens have asked to move their case to the juvenile court system. Moulding argues that the nature and circumstances of the alleged criminal act are as serious as it can get under the Iowa criminal code and that the district court is the only appropriate forum. If they were to be tried in the juvenile court system, the court would lose jurisdiction when he turns 18 years old. The state argues that there could be no reasonable prospect of rehabilitating a premeditated murderer in less than 24 months.
Both teens are being held on $1 million cash bond in juvenile detention facilities awaiting trial and have pleaded not guilty.. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
