The Mid-Prairie School District recently held a special meeting to hold two public hearings for the use of tax revenues.

Following the public hearings, the board approved the resolutions supporting the proposed issuance of approximately $14,500,000 in School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds and the proposed use of SAVE bonds for athletic infrastructure projects. These improvements include a new middle school gym and locker room addition, classrooms at East Elementary and the middle and high schools, construction of a high school auditorium, and parking lot improvements at East and West elementaries and at the high school. Funding for all of the proposed projects would total $37.62 million and come from a bond referendum, sales tax sources, and donations.  A citizen’s committee is starting an election petition drive for a bond referendum totaling $26.3 million. Superintendent Mark Schneider says that signatures are being gathered for a bond issue vote on March 1st and that they will receive an update on the number of signatures gathered next week.
