KCII was able to make the season a whole lot brighter for area food pantries thanks to those who donated money and food to the 19th annual Caring Christmas Food Drive.

The drive underwent some big changes this year as KCII held its inaugural Day of Giving Radiothons that went live on air for a total of 12 hours in November and December. Donations were given either in person, over the phone, or by clicking on the Big Red Button at kciiradio.com. General Manager Joe Nichols says this was one of the station’s most successful food drives, bringing in around $2,500, “All in all, I felt very good and excited about how it went this year because I really didn’t know what to expect but it gives me a lot of good hope heading into next year when we come around to do this again. I see us doing the radiothons and now that we’ve got a target in mind, what we’ve done before, we’ll have some goals in place to try to really achieve this next year.”

KCII has already mailed out two rounds of checks to the eight pantries it supports in and surrounding Washington County. Nichols said each of them received about $300, and he thanks all who donated and the local businesses who participated in the radiothons. Holiday cheer is still around this month as KCII will be drawing the Christmas Cash Call Grand Prize of $1,000 to one lucky winner on January 14th.
