Washington County agencies responded to several vehicle incidents and multiple intoxicated drivers on New Year’s Eve.
At 11:32 a.m. the Washington County Communications Center received a report of a vehicle in the ditch near the creek bridge at 2800 Wayland Road. The driver was standing there with the door open, and then a second vehicle rolled into the ditch striking the first vehicle, with one person trapped. No one was transported for injuries, and John Tate of Ainsworth was cited for no proof of insurance. The secondary roads department was contacted to sand the bridge.
At 1:15 p.m. a vehicle went into the ditch on the west side of the creek bridge in the 2100 block of 250th Street, or Old Highway 92. One person was transported to Washington County Hospital and Clinics, and the vehicle was towed from the scene. Washington Fire and EMS, Washington County Rescue, Ambulance Service and Sheriff’s Office, and Moore’s Towing responded to both incidents. Washington Police Department and county roads employees also responded to the second incident. The communications center also received five calls for those either charged with operating while intoxicated or with charges pending lab results.
