A long bus ride awaits the Mid-Prairie wrestling team as they get back to the dual schedule Thursday. The Hawks travel north to meet Camanche, Northeast Goose Lake and the home Bellevue Comets.

The Hawks wins this year include New London, West Branch, English Valleys and Mount Pleasant. The Golden Hawks have two ranked wrestlers in their lineup with senior Cael Garvey No. 2 at 195lbs in class 2A according to IAwrestle.com. His teammate and fellow senior Gannon Callahan checks in at No. 12 at 285lbs in the same poll.

The Camanche Storm have a 4-5 dual record. They were in action Tuesday across the river in Illinois splitting a pair of duals with a loss to Orion and a win over Mercer County. The Storm does not have any ranked wrestlers in their lineup. These two teams have not met in a dual since 2020 when the Hawks fell by a 51-30 score.

Northeast Goose Lake has a dual record of 1-4 entering the second half of the season. Like Mid-Prairie, they have been off since the Saber Invite at Central DeWitt December 18th. The Rebels do not have any ranked wrestlers in their lineup. The Golden Hawks and Rebels also have not met since 2020 when Mid-Prairie pounded Northeast 60-9.

The homestanding Bellevue Comets enter the night with a 4-7 dual record. Their last action was also at DeWitt December 18th. The Comets have no ranked wrestlers in their lineup. When Bellevue and Mid-Prairie last met in 2020 the Hawks got the win 48-30. This week, Mid-Prairie head wrestling coach Justin Garvey joined the KCII PM Sports page to preview the meet. “It’s a long road trip so that tends to make it a long rough night. I think it could be a really good night for us. We saw Bellevue, Camanche and Northeast all at Central DeWitt before Christmas. Camanche looks to be a little down, I’m really hoping to come out of there with three wins on the night.”

Action starts tonight at 5:30 and continues into the evening at Bellevue High School.
