Live Christmas trees can pose a fire risk if sitting in a home for too long, and Washington residents can avoid this danger through a free annual service lasting through this weekend.
The City of Washington offers free live Christmas tree drop off on the southeast corner of Central Park. Residents can dispose of their trees there, or leave their trees on street corners opposite of fire hydrants from now through Monday, January 10th. Residents are asked to remove all decorations and to not drop off artificial trees. The public can also haul trees to the Wastewater Treatment Plant brush pile site located at 1065 West Buchanan Street.
