The identity of the victim who suffered a gunshot wound in the city of Washington Friday has been released.
Washington Police Chief Jim Lester states that shortly after 8 p.m. 41-year-old Kenneth R. James of Coralville was in the parking lot of the Woodridge Apartments on West Adams Street waiting for an acquaintance when a lone male approached the driver’s side of James’ vehicle and fired one shot into the window, striking him in the left torso. James then left the area, eventually crashing his vehicle at the intersection of South Iowa and East Monroe, where he called 911 and was located and transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment. Officials believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Investigators continue to follow up on leads and anyone with information is asked to contact the police department at 319-653-2107. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
