As the basketball season enters the January grind, the Hillcrest Academy Ravens begin their second trip through the Southeast Iowa Superconference, hosting Mediapolis Tuesday. The Hillcrest girls are 1-10 overall, and winless in the Southeast Iowa Superconference. They were beaten 60-15 by Winfield-Mt. Union Friday despite 10 points from Esther Hughes. On the year, the Ravens score 29 per game and give up 48, shooting 27% from the floor, 21% from outside and 60% at the line. They average 23 boards, four assists, six steals and 15 turnovers per game. Esther Hughes is the individual leader for Hillcrest at 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals per game.

Mediapolis is unbeaten 10-0 coming into the after a win over Columbus 67-23 last game behind 24 points from Hallie Mohr. The Bullettes score 64 per game and give up just 30, shooting 44% from the floor, 34% from long range and 61% at the line to go along with 36 rebounds, 19 assists, 21 steals and 14 turnovers per night. Mohr leads them with 22 points and nine rebounds per night. Haley Steffener has five steals and four assists per game. Mediapolis won the first meeting 71-14.

The Raven boys are 7-2 overall and 6-2 in the Superconference after Winfield-Mt. Union snapped their seven game winning streak Friday in a 42-33 loss where Luke Schrock scored a team high 16 points. Hillcrest scores 55 points and gives up 42 per game, shooting 47% from the floor, 32% from three and 65% at the line to go with 24 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals and 14 turnovers. Grant Bender leads the Ravens individually at 19 points and six boards. Schrock averages three assists and two steals.

Mediapolis is 8-2 overall, 7-1 in the Superconference after a 53-41 win over Columbus Friday. They score 44 per game and give up 37 while shooting 42% from the floor, 35% from three, to go along with 16 rebounds, seven assists, eight steals and eight turnovers. Ben Egan leads MEPO at 11 points per game and five assists. Elijah Grier has a team best six boards. Mediapolis won the early season meeting between the clubs 50-35.
