The Washington Public Library has upcoming events to get adults out and interacting with each other this January.
Library Director Cary Ann Siegfried says the monthly Washington Writers’ Workshop event this Saturday will feature a very special guest, “Iowa writer Leigh Michaels, she is a very prolific romance author and she actually lives very close to us in Ottumwa. So she’s going to give us some pointers on writing and we’re going to give us some pointers on writing and then we’ll do our regular workshop on the 15th.”
Michaels will give a virtual presentation on “Characters Who Keep Secrets.” The event lasts from 10 a.m-noon and can be attended in person or online. As a prelude to the library’s annual Fiber Arts February they will be hosting a field trip on January 28th to the Kalona Historical Village and Museum where Michael Zahs will present his “History in a Cloth Bag” exhibit. The library has an event for John Wayne fans this month, as they’ll be hosting their first “Monday at the Movies” event showing “The Quiet Man” at 1 p.m. January 31st. You can hear more about January events at the library during Tuesday’s Halcyon House Washington Page.
