It was a tough day at the office for the Washington girls’ basketball team last night when they welcomed Keokuk for their first of two meetings this week and it was all Chiefs in a 64-18 final score.
As heard on KCII, the Southeast Conference front runners put on a press in the first half and turned the Demons over that led to a 21-4 lead after one and 34-14 at the break. The continuous clock started in the second half and the Chiefs stayed unbeaten in conference. Two-time SEC player of the year Abby Wolter was having a heyday in transition to finish with a game-high 33 points. Eight Demons found the score column with Alex Murphy having four.
Keokuk improved to 8-3 and 6-0 in the SEC. Washington is now 1-10 and 1-5 in the league. Both squads meet again on Friday in Keokuk and the girl/boy doubleheader can be heard on KCII.
