One person was cited and another was arrested following a traffic stop in Washington Monday night.

Court documents show that at about 7:30 p.m. a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was advised of a possible wanted subject, 30-year-old Christopher Lee Caylor of Des Moines, at an apartment located in the 200 block of South Van Buren Street. While the deputy was en route he observed a vehicle similar to one that 62-year-old Ronda Richmond, one of the apartment occupants, drives. The deputy observed the license plate light was out and the vehicle was seen crossing over the fog line. A traffic stop was conducted and Caylor was located in the back seat as well as 33-year-old Nicole Gummert. Richmond and Gummert were arrested last week for second-degree burglary, a class C felony. The deputy cited Richmond for driving while suspended, and the K9 unit subsequently arrived and located a glass jar containing THC wax and a one hitter, which Caylor claimed was his. Other paraphernalia and drug items were located that admittedly belonged to Richmond and Gummert.

Caylor was arrested on a Polk County warrant for escape from the Fort Des Moines Community Corrections Complex for an original charge of assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. After Caylor was taken into custody, Washington County Jail staff found another one hitter upon searching him. He is charged with possession of contraband in a correctional institution, a class D felony, possession of marijuana first offense, a serious misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false identification information, both simple misdemeanors, and violation of a no contact order. Charges are pending on Gummert for possession of drug paraphernalia. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
