Three area boys basketball teams are among those listed by the Associated Press in their basketball poll released Monday.

In class 3A, the Washington Demons are No. 3 in this week’s rankings. The Demons are 10-1 on the year and 4-1 in the Southeast Conference with their only loss coming to No. 2 Fort Madison. The Demons were a 61-44 winner on Monday over Burlington Notre Dame, running their current winning streak to four straight. They will be back in action Friday when they travel to Keokuk.

In class 2A, the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks make their first appearance of the season in the poll, checking in at No. 9 with a 12-0 overall record, their best start to a season since 1991. Mid-Prairie is also receiving one vote to be the No. 1 ranked team in class 2A. This week the Golden Hawks are 2-0 with a 76-71 win over No. 10 Williamsburg Monday and an 81-55 win at Durant Tuesday. Mid-Prairie will finish the week at home against West Liberty Friday and Saturday against fellow unbeaten and No. 4 ranked Monticello.

In class 1A, the WACO Warriors are in the receiving votes category. They are ninth in the pecking order just outside of the top 10 with nine votes. The Warriors are 10-2 overall and 6-2 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference South division. Their losses include No. 8 in 1A New London and West Burlington. The Warriors have won five straight including a Monday night takedown of Sigourney 66-32 and a Tuesday victory against Holy Trinity Catholic 67-40. In a top 10 showdown, the Warriors get a rematch with New London on the road Friday.
