A Washington man who was arrested on a class D felony drug charge in November now faces a more heinous charge.

Court records show that an arrest warrant was served on Tuesday for 42-year-old Edgar Leon Carroll for possession with intent to deliver more than five grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony. On November 3rd an arrest warrant was issued for Carroll for possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense. As a Washington police officer was arresting Carroll he attempted to hand a sunglasses case to his friend without the officer looking. Inside the case was suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe with residue. The items were sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation lab for testing. The results came back on January 4th positive for 11.39 grams of meth. Carroll is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. Bond was set at $25,300 cash only.
