********THESE GAMES HAVE BEEN POSTPONED*********

Weather pending, it’s another business trip south for the Washington basketball teams tonight when they dual Southeast Conference foe Keokuk in a doubleheader.

The Demon boys will try to keep pace near the top of the SEC standings with a 4-1 league mark and 10-1 overall. Fort Madison is a perfect 5-0 in the league and they will battle 4-1 Burlington tonight. No. 3 Washington rolled in their first game of the week by a 61-44 score over Burlington Notre Dame on Monday. Ethan Patterson put up 20 points, just above his 18.3 average. The junior and Kasen Bailey have accounted for 35 of the team’s 68 points a night. Keokuk lost their top three leading scorers from last winter and are still trying to find their stride by coming in with a 0-5 league mark and 3-7 overall. They defeated Mendon Unity 50-45 on Tuesday and average 38 points a night while giving up 47. MJ Davis leads the squad with 13.8 points and eight rebounds a contest. The Demons have won the last three meetings including a close 46-42 road win last season.

The girls game will be the second meeting in three days between these two schools with No. 13 Keokuk having little trouble in Tuesday’s 64-18 win. Washington will have to find a way to slow down Abby Wolter, as the two-time SEC Player of the Year went off for 33 points in the first clash and averages 23 a game. The Chiefs stand atop of the conference with a 6-0 league record and 8-3 overall and they average 59 points as a team. Washington is 1-10 and 1-5 in the league with Alex Murphy producing 6.3 points and eight rebounds an outing.

The girls game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the boys to follow at Keokuk High School. Stayed tuned to KCII for any possible changes. The doubleheader can be heard on FM 106.1.
